The goal of the Lorain County General Health District’s Mosquito Control Program is to help prevent the spread of mosquito-borne diseases, such as West Nile Virus. Mosquito control technicians accomplish this through the treatment of standing water to kill larval mosquitoes (larvacide) and the use of an ultra-low volume spray to kill adult mosquitoes (adulticide). In addition to larvacide and adulticide, the Health District also provides prevention education and surveillance to its residents.
Update (July 22, 2008): West Nile Virus has been confirmed in Ohio. Check out the Announcements section to see what you can do to prevent infection. |
